This is one of the very few micro ATX motherboards out there that offers the X570 chipset. Usually this chipset is only reserved for ATX or larger motherboards.
The best part about this chipset is that it offers an excellent phase design making them the go to choice for enthusiasts who love overclocking. This motherboard offers powerful 50A chokes as well as a 10 power phase design with a higher number of VRMs.
On top of that the X570 offers a higher number of general purpose lanes giving them a higher range of expandability.
The motherboard offers 2 x PCIE X16 slots. The first PCIe X16 slot works at full X16 bandwidth, however, the second X16 PCIe slots has an X4 bandwidth.
If you plan to have an AMD Crossfire setup with two graphics cards, you would be able to do so here since an AMD graphics card requires X4 bandwidth to work.
It should also be noted that the X4 slot here also supports an NVME SSD as a boot drive. This motherboard also offers 2 x M.2 slots, both having the capability to support the NVME SSDs.

Another highly popular gaming motherboard for AMD builds. Comes with built in WiFi.
MSI MAG B550M Mortar is quite similar to the ASUS TUF Gaming B550M above in terms of performance. However, it is has a price tag primarily for the fact that it includes a built in WiFi 6.
WiFi 6 is the newest WiFi protocol that is currently supported by the B550M Chipset. The benefits of WiFi 6 range from higher stream number to faster transfer rate and range. If that is something that you value, then you may already be sold by this motherboard.
However, besides the built in WiFi, this motherboard separates itself from ASUS TUF Gaming motherboard above by incorporating larger and better quality heat sinks and a unique Duet Rail Power System with a power design of 8+2+1 for processor and RAM making it excellent for overclockers as well as enthusiasts.
As far as the expansion goes it has the same PCIE configuration as ASUS TUF Gaming B550M above, with a single PCIe X16 for graphics card and another X16 slot working at X4 mode for Crossfire setup.
However, this motherboard does feature an addition of 2 SATA slots totaling 6 as compared to 4 on the previous motherboard.
Moreover, this motherboard also offers two M.2 slot both support NVME SSDs but only one of them supports SATA SSD.
In short, if you particularly want built-in WiFi with high quality heat sink for overclocking, then this is certainly the best micro ATX motherboard for Ryzen in our opinion.
What is the mATX Form Factor?
An mATX or Micro ATX fom factor has a dimension of 9.6 inches by 9.6 inches. .
Let us review a few pointers here.
The ATX motherboard is larger than the mATX and has a dimension of 12 x 9.6 inches. On the other hand, the mini ITX motherobards are the smallest with the dimension of 6.7 x 6.7 inches.
The micro ATX motherboards offer a lower number of expansion slots both PCIe as well as SATA as compared to ATX motherboards. A micro ATX typicall has a maximum of 2 x X16 pcie slots. An ATX motherobard can easily feature 3 x X16 PCIE slots.
Compared to a mini ITX which offers only a single X16 PCIE slots and a limited number of SATA slots, the micro ATX is more expandable.
Micro ATX motherboards are the most affordable out there. They are more affordable compared to the ATX since they offer a lower number of expansion slots.
They are also cheaper than mini ITX (if you take the same specs) since mini ITX tend to charge a premium for their compact for factor.
While they are not as small as mini ITX motherboards, they do tend to promote compactness.
Therefore, they are generally quite recommended for those who want to procure the smallest chassis possible for their affordable gaming setups.
Why Go for mATX Form Factor?
As mentioned earlier, micro ATX motherboards check almost all the boxes for an average PC user.
They are affordable compared to the rest, they reasonable small, and have a reasonable expansion suitable for most PCs.
Mini ITX motherboards may seem to limited particularly if you wish to extend and the ATX motherboards may seem like an overkill to most.
Easier to Build
A micro ATX PC is much easier to built as compared to the ATX motherboard. Since it has few slots and smaller dimension, it can fit in a small chassis.
Since most gamers only go for a single graphics card, there is no expert building technique required to set this system up.
One Important Note on Motherboards for Ryzen
It should be noted that while all motherboards with AM4 socket can support the the third and fifth Gen Ryzen three processors, you may not be able to use them from the get go.
This is particularly true if you have motherboard with an older chipset like the B450, A320 or X470. If the vendor has an old stock of motherboards with this chipset, then chances are that their BIOS would not be updated to the latest version to support the newer generation processors.
This is usually not a big issue since you can flash the BIOS to a newer version which would then enable you to support newer graphics.
This can work to your benefit as well. If you know how to flash the BIOS to newer version, you can find some pretty sweet deals on older motherboards. They are generally priced for clearance and thus much cheaper than their original price tag.
